PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - It's one special day for music lovers and it's all thanks to one Phenix City teen.
Mayor Eddie Lowe presented high school senior Sierra Eastridge with a proclamation making March 31 officially Music Appreciation Day in Phenix City.
Eastridge is a student at Central High School who wants to shed light on the art of music and how it can bring people together.
Eastridge met with the Mayor and presented the idea of Music Appreciation Day to the city council.
"The greatest attribute is courage and I'm proud that she was able to show that, engage the community, engage the council, to be able to have something as far as doing this proclamation because as I stated; music is unilateral it brings people together and that's what we need more of," said Mayor Lowe.
Mayor Lowe expects Music Appreciation Day to become an annual event.
