COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Junior League of Columbus is partnering with the Little Black Dress Initiative this week to bring awareness of poverty in the local area.
This initiative encourages people to wear the same black dress every day for poverty. Around 23 percent of children in the Muscogee County live in poverty and Georgia is ranked sixth in the United States.
Muscogee County School Board member Kia Chambers and the Leadership Institute at Columbus State University are some of the people participating in this initiative.
If you would like to contribute to the Junior League of Columbus to help children in poverty, you can drop off diapers or cash at the Wynn House, located at 1240 Wynnton Road.
