COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) A Columbus woman turned 105 years young on Tuesday, and a very special birthday celebration was held for her at the Covenant Woods Retirement Community.

Erris Croom is very active and enjoys exercising, shopping and attending Bible study. She is not your average 105-year-old, Ms. Croom doesn't want to use her walker until she is old enough and she says the key to her longevity is not having children.

At her 102nd birthday one of the residents at the retirement community asked Ms. Croom if she ever wanted a man in her life again and she replied, "No, honey I like older men."

The staff at Covenant Woods Retirement Community says that her sense of humor could also be her secret to a long life.

"She is just the most amazing woman I've ever known and I've been so fortunate to have her in my life," said Dorothy Hutcherson, Croom's niece.
