COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Fire officials are investigating a fire at a former Head Start school located on Rosemont Drive.
According to officials, they received a call about the fire around 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Fire Marshal Ricky Shores with the Columbus Fire Department confirms they are investigating the fire as arson.
No cause has been determined yet, but fortunately the building was abandoned. It used to be an elementary and Head Start school.
Enrichment Services Program, Inc. released the following statement concerning the fire:
Please be advised that Enrichment Services Program no longer occupy the Rosemont facility and have not occupied the facility since 2013. Our staff and children are safe. The Rosemont facility is owned by Muscogee County School District. For questions and/or inquiries on the condition of the Rosemont facility, please contact the Muscogee County School District.
