Fatal Hit & Run Suspect Appears In Court

New details about what led up to the arrest of the man charged in the death of Carver baseball coach David Pollard.
19-year-old William Cross made his first court appearance today.
Columbus Police detectives testified in court that he was staying in a hotel room under his mother's name, which raises a question if she'll be charged with aiding and abetting.
Lt. Thomas Dent with the Columbus police department says on April 18th police were pursuing Cross before the fatal crash but police terminated the pursuit when officers felt that the escalating high speeds posed danger to the public.

"If the officer feels that the time of day, number of people present or whether if that officer determines the chase is unsafe he is allowed to terminate it without recourse," Lt. Thomas told News Leader Nine.
Police say evidence like Cross' jacket that he dropped when he fled the scene revealed a key card to a room at the Value Place Hotel on Victory Drive where police found the suspect.
Cross is being held on a bond of more than $100,000.
