WI man reunites with stolen dog after two years

COLUMBUS, WI (WTVM) – The owner of a stolen dog finally reunited with his dog after two long years, thanks to a microchip.

Two years ago Jose of Columbus, WI was going through a hard time in life including a divorce, losing his house and he had to live in his vehicle. During those hard times was when he got his dog Chaos as a puppy.

"Chaos helped me through so much in my life, I took him everywhere with me," Jose said.

Jose wanted to find a better living situation for his furry friend, and that's when he decided to let a friend of a friend take Chaos. Three months later, by the time Jose was back on his feet, the friend refused to give the dog back.

"I didn't think I would ever see my dog again," Jose said as he was heartbroken about losing his dog.

On April 28, 2016 Jose received a phone call that was associated with Chaos' ID number from the Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford, IL informing him that his dog was at this particular animal shelter.

Jose was excited and began to cry, "I was speechless and I couldn't stop smiling, I just couldn't believe it."

Once he was reunited with his fury best friend he said, "I couldn't be happier, I feel amazing!"

The Winnebago County Animal Services posted a video on its Facebook page while Jose and Chaos reunited for the first time in two years.

Jose wants to advise animal owners to pay the microchip fee because it is worth it versus never seeing your dog again.
