Contestants prepare for 72nd annual Miss Georgia Pageant in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Miss Georgia Pageant will celebrate 72 years on June 14–18, in the Bill Heard Theatre of the RiverCenter of Performing Arts in historic Uptown Columbus. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. nightly.

Ninety women from across the state will compete for academic scholarships and the titles of Miss Georgia 2016 and Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen 2016.

The winners will represent Georgia at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in September and Miss America's Outstanding Teen in Orlando in August.

Tickets may be purchased at or at the RiverCenter Box Office at (706) 256-3612 or Ticket prices for Orchestra and Mezzanine seating are $35 for Tuesday - Thursday Preliminaries, $65 for Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen 2016 Finals on Friday and $85 for Saturday Finals and the Crowning of Miss Georgia 2016.

A Season Ticket for all five nights is $195.  Balcony seating can be purchased for $20 for Tuesday - Thursday, $30 for Friday and $40 for Saturday.

Other pageant week activities include  "Meet the Crowns"  in the RiverCenter Lobby on June 11 from 4 to 4:30 p.m., followed by the Miss Georgia Parade in Uptown Columbus from 5 to 6 p.m. The Miss Georgia "Quack Race" which is a scholarship benefit, will be held June 18 at noon at the Trade Center.
