COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Looking to see some cool cars? Saturday, May 28 is the 5th Annual Bugs on the Hooch Antique Volkswagen Car Show and Charity Fundraiser.

Organizer Eddie Boone stopped by our studios Saturday morning to tell us more about the event.

"We've got old school Volkswagen Bugs, buses, it's just all a variety, it's got good-looking ones, the Rat Rods, the ones that people build at home, all different styles of Volkswagens, trucks, it's just a good event," Boone said. "It's good for kids to come out and play, bring the kids. There's food, barbecue and everything else, it's just a good event for the whole family to come out, and have a great time."

Boone said funds raised by the event will benefit Animal Ark Rescue, since they are a no-kill shelter.

He also said they will promote awareness for cervical cancer because his daughter passed away from the disease in 2013.

Boone also encouraged all soldiers both past and present to stop by.

"If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be here," he said.

The car show is being held at Woodruff Riverfront Park in Columbus from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. It's free to enter, free to swap meet, and free for vendors.

Attendees will have the chance to win VW parts and WhiteWater Rafting or zipline passes.
