PHENIX, CITY, AL (WTVM) - Some Alabama high school students are better prepared to pay for college thanks to an annual fundraiser.
On Saturday, the third annual Mayor's Ball took place in Phenix City. This event provided scholarships for high school students to attend college.
So far, 30 high school students have received funds for college and 33 students for dual enrollment.
Mayor Eddie Lowe says the event has grown so much over the last three years, they moved the event to the Chattahoochee Valley Community College this year.
He also says they exceeded their goal this year by raising $106,000 this year, which is more than double the amount collected last year.
