Man rescued from Chattahoochee River on July 30

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Scary moments on the Chattahoochee River over the weekend as a man had to be rescued after falling into the water near an artificial whitewater rapids course.

Whitewater Express officials confirmed that two raft guides were able to rescue the unidentified man on Saturday.

Officials said the man was not one of the outfitter's customers and was not wearing a flotation device.

The president of Uptown Whitewater Inc. says the man fell into the water from an island that is a popular place for people to watch rafts come through the course that is accessible from Columbus' Chattahoochee RiverWalk.
