AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - The city of Auburn will soon be able to call on Uber for a ride once more.

David Dorton, director of Public Affairs for the city, has confirmed that Auburn City Council has passed an ordinance that will allow ride-sharing apps like Uber to return to Auburn.

Dorton also says it will likely take them a few weeks or a month to get it up and running.

"Tonight, the city council created a permanent home for Uber in Auburn, and we look forward to bringing safe, affordable transportation options and flexible work opportunities to the community," said Uber spokeswoman Evangeline George. "Access to a reliable ride at the push of a button will help empower students, residents and visitors alike to make safe choices at the end of a night out."
