AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – Are you looking for a place to retire? Auburn has been selected as a top retirement destination by Where to Revive Magazine.
This is the only magazine in America geared toward helping people with retirement relocation decisions. The city is profiled in the September/October issue, which is available nationwide on Aug. 9.
The editor of the magazine, Annette Fuller, said Auburn possesses qualities important to today's retirees.
"In east-central Alabama, Auburn University and the War Eagles dominate its same-name city, and people here like that just fine. Some alumni return in retirement to the city etched in their memories as a great place to be. It's hip, small downtown radiates a fun vibe, and outstanding golf in Auburn and nearby Opelika — with its Grand National complex — is a huge draw. The university sponsors an active Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, as well," Fuller said.
Each year, 700,000 Americans relocate to new towns to retire. Generally, relocating retirees are healthier, better educated and more affluent than those who choose to not relocate. They bring significant economic benefits to their new states and hometowns. Nationally, two dozen states and hundreds of towns seek to attract retirees as a source of economic development.
