RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - A number of residents in parts of Russell County experienced widespread power outages Wednesday morning.

According to the Tallapoosa River Electric Cooperative Engineering Supervisor Ken Hodge, the cause of the outage was a transmission line outage where two substations were affected.

Nearly 3,000 people were without power in an area along Hwy. 165 near Fort Mitchell and spread toward the Eufaula city limits.

Power was out for nearly 3 and a half hours and was restored around 10 a.m. ET.
