COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A man who led police on a high-speed chase across Columbus on Sunday made his first court appearance on Tuesday afternoon.
Wayman McMillian, 21, pled not guilty in Recorder's Court to multiple charges which include violation of probation, reckless driving, and obstruction of a police officer.
Police say McMillian was driving a white Ford Focus on Sunday afternoon when officers say he jumped a curb at 7th Street and Coolidge Avenue and hit a police cruiser.
They testified he blew through several stop signs.
Police say McMillian was arrested after the vehicle struck a telephone pole and he tried to run away.
Bonds were set for each charge, and the case was bound over to Superior Court.
While in court, McMillian stated he did not steal his girlfriend's car.
The owner of the white Ford Focus testified she was pressured by police to say the car had been stolen.
Two passengers in the car were taken to the hospital for minor injuries and arrested.
