OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – A traffic stop at an Opelika gas station led to a narcotics investigation that uncovered 10 suspected cocaine bricks on Wednesday afternoon.

The traffic stop was followed by two people in the vehicle being detained. The gas station is at exit 58 on I-85.

The stop turned into a joint investigation between the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Opelika Police Department's Narcotics Division.

Sgt. Steve Jarrett with ALEA said details are limited as these are the beginning stages of the investigation, but there is no danger to the public. He also said that the two people that were detained will be interviewed as part of the investigation.
