COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The new Clearview Hall Student Housing Center officially opened Thursday morning at Columbus State University.
This new dorm is now one of three housing options at the main campus, and one of nine including the RiverPark campus.
The dorms feature 540 rooms along with other features including a gym.
"New students, first-year students have certain needs," said CSU's Dr. Gina Sheeks. "That is what Clearview Hall is about. It's going make a tremendous impression on incoming students in terms of their retention, progression, and graduation."
Some of the features include giving students the ability to receive text messages when a washing machine and dryer are available.
The cost to build Clearview Hall was about $25 million and took three years to complete.
Other improvements taking place include the new College of Education and Health Professions building under construction at the RiverPark campus.
As part of the strategic plan released in 2012, CSU has put in plans to expand and renovate several buildings on the main campus, and RiverPark campus.
