PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A bond between a quarterback and wide receiver can be unbreakable. For Central's Zion Webb and Justyn Ross, shared experiences brought them even closer on the field.

Nobody was more excited for the start of football season than Zion Webb and Justyn Ross…  they're more than happy to put 2015 behind them…

"Amazing. Words can't explain how I feel right now," Webb said. "It's a good feeling to be back on the field."

"I've been telling my team the whole time I can't wait to get back out there with y'all so it's very exciting," Ross said.

Both Webb and Ross suffered season-ending injuries last year. Webb hurt his knee in the opening game of last season.  Ross tore his ACL during a basketball game in December.

Both injuries could have affected their futures, but it was their bond as teammates that helped them get through a tough moment in their lives.

"We already had a great bond, but it built a lot during the injury because we realize how much we needed each other," Ross said.

"Sat down, talked a lot of times about what we think we can do and prepare better to do better and to help ourselves farther along," Webb said. "It was like a brotherhood and we stayed together and do what we had to do."

Now they're back and ready to make some noise in 2016.

"I was trying to get back as fast as I could because I had a lot of motivation by not being out there for my teammates," Ross said.

"Tremendously happy to be back out here and do what I like best. It's just amazing for me," Webb said.

Central faces Auburn High in our Game of the Week. Kickoff set for Friday at 8 Eastern, 7 Central. We'll have all the highlights later that night on Sports Overtime.
