CPD investigates shooting on 7th St.; 3 injured

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus Police Department is investigating a shooting on Monday that injured three people.

The shooting happened on the 2000 block of 7th Street in Columbus shortly before 2 p.m. The three injured were taken to Midtown Medical Center and are expected to be OK.

Some of the bullets from this shooting also went into a nearby house, but no one was injured in that home. Kids were also outside playing near the shooting.

CPD's Captain Turner says they have received conflicting statements from the victims, but says the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between the victims and the suspect.

Both the suspect and the victims fired shots at each other. However, no suspects have been named at this time.

Capt. Turner also said that two additional houses were struck by stray bullets.

Police have no details on the suspect at this time.
