Drive-thru flu shots available in Columbus on Tuesday

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Keeping everyone healthy for fall football games and upcoming holidays is the goal of the Columbus Health Department as they encourage everyone to get a flu shot this season.

To make it more accessible to everyone, the department will be hosting a drive-through flu shot event for the first time ever- much like events held in other places across the country.

It's all taking place at the Columbus Civic Center's parking lot on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m.

"We have our registration forms online," said Pamela Kirkland with West Central Health District. "You can go to our website,, and fill out your form and be completely ready to go. You'll just drive in, and put your arm out the window and get your shot. It will be great."

The drive will accept most insurance policies with exceptions from Anthem and Tricare.

The out of pocket cost is $35 for the seasonal shot and $50 for a high dose shot.

Cash and credit will be accepted.
