COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A beloved comedian was in town on Tuesday to support a serious cause.
Jeff Foxworthy was the keynote speaker at the "Giving Childhood a Chance" luncheon fundraiser at the Columbus Trade Center. Proceeds benefit Our House at Carpenter's Way, a ministry of the methodist home for children and youth.
The home provides care and support throughout south Georgia for boys and girls who have been abused and neglected.
Foxworthy entertained the crowd with jokes, but also spoke about how the works of carpenter's way have touched his life as a Christian.
"The thing we are called to do is to love on people. Whoever they are we are called to love on people and to look like a light in a dark place. That is what Carpenter's Way does down here," Foxworthy said.
Foxworthy says his duty as a Christian to give back to those who are less fortunate.
Following the luncheon Foxworthy signed autographs and took pictures with some of the young men from Carpenter's Way.
