LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - LaGrange Police responded to the area of Fannin Street and Heard Street in regards to a subject shot on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at approximately 12:35 p.m.
The victim told officials that he was approached by three unknown black males while in the backyard of a home on Heard Street. He said one of the three pointed a gun at him before they took property from his person.
The victim was able to run from the subjects but was shot in the back. He was airlifted to Columbus Medical Center for treatment.
Officers also made contact with two additional victims, who said they observed two black males forcing the first victim up the stairs of the home.
The second victim stated that one of the suspects then put the gun to the third victim's head and demanded money. The suspect took property from the second and third victims before another shot was fired.
Officers in the area made contact with Brian Atkinson, who was wearing the clothing identified by the victims. Atkinson was positively identified by various witnesses as the male who committed the Robbery on Heard Street.
Atkinson was taken into custody a short distance from the scene and transported to the Troup County Jail. He is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Criminal Investigations Section is asking for assistance in identifying the two additional suspects in this case.
