COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A celebration of breast cancer survivors took place Tuesday at Brushes and Beverages in Uptown Columbus.

The "Girls Night Out" event was for women who have survived breast cancer and also had breast reconstruction at Chattahoochee Plastic Surgery.

Along with a celebration, organizers say it was just a night of fun and painting.

"It's one of those things wear when you go through a trail like breast cancer, you have a lot of attention and a lot of support at that moment while you're going through it," said event coordinator Natalia Temesgen. "And then as the years go by it's nice to continue to check in and remember you know what you've been through and celebrate how far you've come from that point."

There will also be an event called Bra Day on Wednesday at 5:30 at Chattahoochee Plastic Surgery.

Both of these events are part of the valley's participation in Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
