COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The US Senate seat is up for grabs with three different candidates vying for the position.
Longtime US Senator Johnny Isakson is being opposed by Libertarian candidate Allen Buckley and Democratic candidate Jim Barksdale.
Late Sunday night, Barksdale drew an endorsement that may help him take down the longtime Senator.
Former First Lady Rosalyn Carter announced that she would be supporting Barksdale to take over as Senator.
"She set such a standard as a first lady and here we are about to elect the first former first lady, the first woman president of the country," said Barksdale. "It ties it all together. It's just a great endorsement."
Barksdale's stance is very different than his two opponents.
"First we need to increase the minimum wage and I say that because the economy is not moving very well," Barksdale said. "If we increase the minimum wage, right off the bat, that is going to help the country grow."
