COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Superintendent David Lewis recommended Herbert Hill as the new director of transportation candidate at the Muscogee County School Board Meeting Monday night.
This newest appointment comes after some recent controversy with new hires for the school district. Back in September, the candidate for that same position declined the nomination.
Hill says he looks forward to working with the board in making sure kids have access to safe transportation.
"Not all students can afford transportation. So just to ensure that everybody has an equal opportunity for education. The buses are very important to get those students to their necessary schools," said Hill.
He was approved by a 7-2 vote and began his job on Tuesday. Hill currently serves as Transportation Supervisor for Dekalb County School District.
