MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - The results are in for the Muscogee County Sheriff's runoff race held between incumbent John Darr and Democratic candidate Donna Tompkins.

Unofficial and incomplete numbers from the Muscogee County Elections Office report Tompkins winning the election with 51.67 percent of the vote to Darr's 48.33 percent.

The results will be certified by the Board of Elections on Friday, Dec. 9 at the 2 p.m. meeting. Tompkins is expected to take the office the first week of January 2017.

While Tompkins received the majority of the votes on Election Day on Nov. 8, she did not receive enough votes to claim victory.

On Monday, Darr was endorsed by former Muscogee County sheriff's candidate Pam Brown. Meanwhile, Tompkins was endorsed by former sheriff's candidates Sheriff Mark Lajoye and Robert Smith last month.
