2 Auburn basketball players arrested on misdemeanor drug charge

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Two Auburn University basketball players were arrested and charged with misdemeanor drug charges and have been suspended indefinitely.

Auburn Basketball Coach Bruce Pearl says he's "disappointed" in two of his sophomore starters, Bryce Brown and Horace Spencer, both 19, for being arrested for misdemeanor possession.

Coach Pearl says the two will not practice Wednesday and not play in Thursday's game against Coastal Carolina. Further disciplinary action, if any, has not been decided by the coach and he is unsure of when they will return.

Auburn police confirm Brown and Spencer, who are both 19, were arrested on one count of marijuana possession. They were booked in around 4:30 Wednesday morning at the Lee County Detention Facility.

According to the team's roster, Brown is listed as a 6'3" guard from Stone Mountain, GA. Spencer is a 6'8" forward from Philadelphia, PA.

He says his players realize they are role models and the two are embarrassed.

"They understand they are role models. They've let their Auburn family down, they've let their own families down, their team down and they feel really badly about it," Pearl said.
