SEALE, AL (WTVM) – One east Alabama military veteran celebrated an exciting honor Friday on Hwy 431 in Seale.
A southbound section at mile marker 98 is now called General Edward F. Crowell Highway.
Crowell served for 35 years in the United States Airforce and retired as a Brigadier General.
He was there with his wife and family for the unveiling and says he is quite touched by the recognition.
"Lots of people would inspire to this level, but it is something I never inspired to. I am excited about it and I will do all that I can to live up to the honor," said Ret. Brigadier Gen. Edward F. Crowell USAF.
Ret. Gen. Crowell is now a senior vice president for a computer manufacturer in Montgomery.
The project was started by State Representative Lesley Vance and finished by Representative Chris Blackshear
