COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Just about everybody loves Girl Scout cookies and several Columbus area restaurants were recently challenged to transform the iconic treats into something even tastier.
Tuesday, Feb. 28 was the kick off of National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend.
As part of the celebration local restaurants are competing to put their own unique twist on a Girl Scout cookie.
The restaurant winner was Steamy's for their Minty Mudslide Cookie Dish.
Debbie Caballero with Girl Scouts explained what the cookie program does for its members.
"Our Cookie Program teaches them five basic literacy skills, which are goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics," Caballero said.
The second winner of the competition for the non-restaurant group was the Central High School Culinary Program for their Savannah Smiles Bread Pudding.
Both teams were presented with a National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend Culinary Competition trophy.
