34th annual Best Ranger Competition kicks off April 7

CUSSETA, GA (WTVM) - The David E. Grange Best Ranger Competition begins April 7 at Camp Darby in Cusseta, GA.

The first event is scheduled to start at 6 a.m. April 7 and the competition will end at approximately 4 p.m. April 9. A formal award ceremony will be held 10 a.m. April 10 at McGinnis-Wickham Hall in Marshall Auditorium.

Approximately 50 two-man ranger teams from around the world will compete for the Best Ranger title. The competition challenges the teams in events that test their physical conditioning, ranger skills, and team strategies.

The competition is open to the public and a schedule of events will be released to the community the week prior to the competition via the Fort Benning Facebook page. The hashtag #BestRanger is encouraged to be used when tweeting team updates during the competition.

Media who wishes to cover any part of the competition should contact the Public Affairs Office no later than 4 p.m. March 31.
