Mayor Tomlinson responds to shooting at Club Medallion

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus police are investigating a shooting at Club Medallion that took place early Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the club located at 1820 Midtown Drive around 1:45 a.m. Reports show that two victims were shot and one victim was taken to the Midtown Medical Center and the other victim was taken to the Jack Hughston Hospital in Phenix City.

On Monday, Mayor Tomlinson responded to the shooting stating:

Anytime we have a shooting, particularly in a place that serves alcohol, we always conduct an investigation or review of status of several things: the status of their liquor license…and what sort of reports have come from that area, especially violence or illicit activity like drugs or prostitution."

Tomlinson says she is waiting on the results of the active investigation and depending on what comes from that, options could be taken to city council and their liquor license could be revoked. Another option includes the case going to the DA to get the club declared a "criminal haven."

This case is under investigation by the Columbus police.
