CATAULA, GA (WTVM) –  After Georgia Senator Josh McKoon announced that he is not seeking re-election, Randy Robertson has filed his intent to run for the 29th State Senate District.

"My wife and I have prayed about this and talked through every angle of what this would mean for our family," said Robertson. "This is a journey that we are committed to. We love our community and I am looking forward to digging deep into the issues that matter to the constituents of the 29th."

Robertson is a 30-and-a-half-year law enforcement veteran and retired from the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office in 2015.

He is a 2010 graduate of the FBI National Academy, an honor held by only one percent of the law enforcement community world-wide.

He is also active in the Fraternal Order of Police and currently serves as the President of the FOP Georgia State Lodge.

Robertson intends to run on the Republican ticket.
