Thousands to lose GA food stamps due to new requirement

(WTVM) – In a few days, thousands of Georgians are likely to lose their food stamps.
In January, the state changed the work requirement for able-bodied recipients without children in 21 counties, saying find a job or lose your food stamps.
The deadline is April 1.
State officials say they plan to expand the work requirements to every county in the state by 2019.
The 21 Georgia counties where the new work requirement is taking effect:
- Banks
- Barrow
- Bartow
- Brooks
- Catoosa
- Clarke
- Coweta
- Dade
- Fayette
- Forsyth
- Gordon
- Heard
- Jackson
- Lowndes
- Madison
- Oconee
- Oglethorpe
- Paulding
- Troup
- Walker
- Walton
Counties where the work requirements have been in place since last year:
- Cobb
- Gwinnett
- Hall
