PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Several kids in Phenix City are getting a ride they'll never forget for being top readers at their schools.

Fifteen students between Sherwood and Lakewood Elementary were rewarded Thursday morning with a limousine ride.

The red carpet treatment was all thanks to a partnership between the Preferred Medical Group of Pediatrics and area Russell and Phenix City Schools.

""I really and truly believe that it does take a village to raise a child so if the schools, the teachers, the parents, Pediatricians and community leaders we can all come together and support the overall development of the child and that would be an ideal community and I am excited to be in Phenix City and this is really the village that's raising our children," said Dr. Ritu Chandra with Preferred Medical Group.

The students who participated were between third to fifth grade in the Accelerated Reading Program.
