COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus police are searching for the companion of 43-year-old Ruby Lloyd who was found dead early Monday.

Police say Lloyd's family had not heard from her in some time and the family discovered her dead inside her home on Meloy Drive in South Columbus.

Lloyd's light brown or bronze 2011 four-door Ford F150 was missing from the home and currently listed as stolen with the Georgia tag PVY 1284.

Columbus police are now searching for her living companion, 42-year-old Cory Hill described as approximately 5'6" tall and 157 pounds.

As of now, Lloyd's direct cause of death has not been determined. A death many are still trying to understand.

"We had to read it online. With all these people out here, No one said anything, we had to read it online, Which was kind of disheartening. It's very surprising like you don't think that's what happened, like no, no, she had a heart attack or something, you don't think it was what it was," said Brittany Cannon, who lives on Meloy Drive.

Cannon says Lloyd was like a mother figure to many.

"She takes care of everybody, even if you needed 5 bucks for gas money, she would give it to you," said Cannon.

This is the 17th homicide of the year.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hill please contact Columbus police at 706-225-4422.
