The House of Mercy is just one out of the many local shelters that provides food, clothing, and protection for those in need.
One Chicago native says he feels like he's home.
"I'm not going to be with my family and its family-oriented here," said William McKinley. That they make you feel welcomed, everybody shows love."
Several other shelters will be open this weekend including Valley Rescue Mission for men, Salvation Army also for men, Damascus way shelter, along with House of Mercy, all making sure those in need are full on Christmas.
"This Christmas and Eve we will serve breakfast and dinner," said Bobby Harris- Director; House of Mercy. "Breakfast will be at 8 and dinner will be at 2."
All of those shelters will be open to anyone in the community and volunteers and always welcomed.
