COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson took to her Facebook page to remind citizens about laws surrounding your pets and the cold weather.

On her Facebook page, Tomlinson issued a reminder that it is illegal in Columbus to leave your pets outside when the temperature is below 32 degrees.

Citizens can be fined, or worse if they are found to be keeping pets outside in those temperatures.

The reminder also features an ordinance with a stipulation that animals must have proper shelter if left outside when temperatures are below 50 degrees.
