Big Dog Fleet Feet hosts 12th Annual Marathon
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Big Dog Fleet Feet kicked off its 12th Annual Red Nose Half Marathon Saturday.
The marathon took place on 12th and Broadway and runners in Columbus are already starting the new year off with a bang.
Runners lined up early Saturday morning wrapped in layers trying to stay warm in the cold temperatures.
The first runner to cross the finish line was David Marley; this is not his first, but fourth time reaching his goal.
"Big Dog does a lot for the running community and they are trying to start off the new year with something great," said David Marley, winner of the marathon.
"My goal today was to at least run under 70 minutes for 13.1-miles and I did just that, I ran 69.52," said Marley
The running company puts on this event to promote a healthy lifestyle by bringing the community together free of charge and it seems to never disappoint.
"This is one of our favorite runs." said one runner.
"I feel great now, I was having second thoughts in the middle of the race. The cold got to me just a little bit." said Marley
Despite the freezing cold temperatures, nothing could stop these runners.
