COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A march was held in Phenix City in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday Celebration.

More than 50 marchers from local churches walked from the Russell County Judicial Center to Franchise Missionary singing songs of freedom Saturday morning.

The event at the church included refreshments and guest speaker, Judge Charles Price of Montgomery, AL.

"We don't want people to forget the struggles that we have had for the last generations. More importantly, this is for Dr. King, what he has done, and his legacy," said Pastor Robert Battle.

Pastor Battle explained today's march was all about remembering those who fought for civil rights.

This event was sponsored by Community of Concerned Clergy.
