COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Tuesday was your chance to weigh in on changes being proposed for the Metra bus system in Columbus.
Metra is trying to streamline its operation and has suggested eliminating certain routes.
The city held the first of two public hearings this afternoon, giving anyone and everyone a chance to voice their opinion on the issue.
"We have not had a major serving change or study in over 35 years or so and this was an opportunity to do that," says Deputy City Manager Lisa Goodwin.
The routes that are not being used and which will probably be eliminated are the Columbus Commons route and route 11. While there was some discussion of it, officials say the Fort Benning route will not be eliminated and it is one of the most productive routes.
