Students in the Chattahoochee Valley nominated to a military service academy
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Several students in the Chattahoochee Valley were honored to receive a nomination to a military service academy.
Congressman Drew Ferguson hosted the ceremony on Friday, Feb. 9 at the University of West Georgia.
The ceremony honored all 50 students the Congressman nominated for military service academies including six students from Columbus and the surrounding region.
The following students in our area were nominated:
- Fontanez-Virella, Christian - Columbus
- Hicks. Samuel – LaGrange
- Hurtado, Eduard – LaGrange
- Redomond, Wyatt- Cataula
- Smith, Eugene – Columbus
- Sizemore, Julia – Columbus
"I commend all of these students for their dedication and willingness to defend our freedoms, Ferguson said. "There is no higher calling than serving our nation in the Armed Forces, and I was humbled to have the opportunity to honor these students for their nominations to the military service academies. We are so thankful for all of the brave men and women who choose to defend their nation."
