COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A world tour has made its way to Columbus.
The Mystical Arts of Tibet tour by monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery has been at the RiverCenter since Tuesday creating a sacred Mandala.
Hundreds have seen the Mandala and taken pictures of it. On Friday, the monks will do a concert and demonstration of their sacred dancing, drumming, and horn blowing,
Saturday, they will put the finishing touches on the sand painted Mandala and will dismantle it.
"This Mandala design was commissioned shortly after Sep. 11 by the Dalai Lama. I think that has some resonance today especially this week with all that's been going on in our country and around the world," says Norm Easterbrook, executive director of the RiverCenter.
After the dismantling, the sand will be dispersed in the Chattahoochee River to spread the message of the Mandala throughout the world.
