LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) – The Troup County Sheriff's Office arrested two people during a traffic stop and seized thousands of dollars worth of cocaine.

On Monday, April 16 around 2:21 p.m. a lieutenant from the sheriff's office stopped a 2017 red Honda Accord on I-85 southbound for following too closely.

After stopping the vehicle, the lieutenant found that the driver, 62-year-old Earnest Murphy and the passenger, 70-year-old Tommy Holyfield, both from Selma, AL were in possession of around eight ounces of cocaine.

Murphy and Holyfield were taken to the Troup County Jail and were charged with trafficking cocaine.

Police say the cocaine has a street value of around $22,000.
