Columbus father remembered following deadly apartment shooting

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police are investigating a deadly shooting at Arbor Pointe apartments.

The shooting now has neighbors, family, and friends, concerned for their safety.

When officers arrived on the scene around on Friday, April 20 7:30 p.m., they found Kenyon Thomas suffering from a gunshot wound.

Neighbors in the community say he was a great friend, person, and father to his daughter.

"Why? he's a good kid. I mean he was good and very respectful and I mean we love them you know he was good," a friend said.

"It wasn't necessary for them to do that because he was a good person," the friend continued. "Even if he did something bad they shouldn't have killed him."

Thomas was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he was later pronounced dead.

He will be taken to Atlanta for an autopsy.
