COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Both Democrats seeking to be the next governor were in town for a debate Tuesday night at Columbus State University.
The public was invited to hear what Stacey Abrams and Stacey Evans had to say about their platforms. Both are former State Representatives.
Aflac and TSYS sponsored the series and professors from CSU's political science department and local anchors were part of the panel. The candidates were given a series of questions from the panel and a certain time frame to respond.
"I think it's really important that the second largest city in the state hosts these kinds of events where we can bring candidates to Columbus and the campus so that more of our residents can learn more about who may be running the state," says John Lester, chief of staff at CSU.
Th purpose of the event was for the public and students to learn more about the candidates before casting a vote.
