Teen Summit tackles gun violence in Columbus
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Lawmakers and students led a conversation on gun violence in Columbus Thursday evening.
The Columbus Georgia Youth Advisory Council in conjunction with the Columbus Consolidated Government and the Muscogee County School District held the 2018 Teen Summit at the Columbus Civic Center.
This year's theme was 'Gun Violence.' There was a panel of professionals, community advocates, lawmakers, and youth who all engaged in an in-depth conversation on what needs to be done in the community to prevent such violent acts.
Tionbra Grant, president of the Youth Advisory Council, says teens can change things at the voting booths.
"I want teens to vote because we are the youth and we are the change," says Grant.
This year marked the fourth year the Teen Summit has taken place.
