Husband and wife in Columbus face charges for reportedly growing marijuana

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A husband and wife in Columbus appeared in court Tuesday following a drug bust last week.

Robert and Mikelle Jones pleaded not guilty to charges including drug possession and intent to sell.

A task force executed a search warrant of the Jones' property and reportedly found of 5.5 pounds of marijuana still on plants.  Robert Jones admitted to growing the plants, but claimed he was going to give the marijuana to a cancer center for free.

According to attorneys, the amount of drugs found in the Jones' shed totaled close to $50,000.

After a discussion between attorneys, the case was bound to Superior Court.
