Auburn police arrest 2 burglary suspects

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn police arrested two burglary suspects Wednesday, May 2.

Jay Kepner, 32, and Jamel Reader, 27, both from New York, New York are charged with felony second-degree burglary and possession of burglar tools.

Police responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress at a business in the 1000 block of Opelika Road around 1:40 p.m. When officers arrived, they discovered that someone had forcibly entered the building through an exterior door.

Kepner and Reader were found hiding in the vicinity and detained.

After an investigation, Kepner and Reader were developed as suspects after tools and supplies commonly used to commit burglaries were recovered in their possession and vehicle.

Both suspects were transported to the Lee County Jail and are being held on an $8,000 bond.
