COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Board of Directors of the Thunder in the Valley Air Show has announced that this past April's air show will be the organization's last.
"During its 21 years of operation, Thunder in the Valley Air Show will have donated more than $1,000,000 back to the Chattahoochee Valley youth organizations and charities," says Phaedra Childers, event coordinator.
Childers also said in a press release that air show entertainment continues to get more expensive and it gets harder to raise sponsorship money.
"We feel the air show competes with many other events for the same patrons' time and money, as well as corporate sponsorship dollars," said Childers. "We've had great success for 21 years, and we believe the time is right to bring the show to an end."
Beneficiaries of the 2018 Thunder in the Valley Air Show will be announced later in the year for the remaining funds.
The planning committee also states how grateful for the support of fans, sponsors, media partners, vendors, exhibitors, volunteers, and entertainers.
