Sullivan Cup tank competition wraps up at Fort Benning
FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Fort Benning ended this year's Sullivan Cup with an awards ceremony Friday.
The Sullivan Cup takes place every two years and challenges four-person tank crews from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and partner nations to see who's the best tank crew. Crews complete a variety of tests and are scored. Participants have been competing all week and finished the last challenge Friday.
"This is our job at its finest. When you put everyone in one area with the best of the best across the world competing, it just speaks for itself. I think the competition itself is fierce. It's just an outstanding job," says Johnathan Werner, a winning team member in this year's competition.
This year's winners are B Company 3rd Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, and 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Stewart, Georgia.
The main goal of Sullivan Cup is to make the U.S. Army better in the tank field.
