LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Millions of dollars will go towards the expansion of the Lee County Courthouse.
$9.9 million is being put into the three-story addition that will house the revenue commissioner's office and offer more open space.
This historic courthouse was built in the 1800s and can no longer accommodate Lee County's growing population. Satellite offices have since been opened but county officials say that an expansion is unavoidable.
The addition is expected to be completed in December.
